Story of idXtra
Founded in March 2002, the principals of idXtra already had in excess of 25 years experience providing security and identification solutions to the education sector. Initially, idXtra focused on ID card issuance and software integration, but soon recognised the broader needs of schools and colleges.
The company developed a full range of systems, comprising a blend of in-house and re-seller solutions. This meant that idXtra could offer end-to-end solutions to customers, from ID card, through access control and cashless payment, to attendance monitoring systems.
The systems were linked to MIS and Active Directory (AD) in real-time to give customers a high level of control. The company did its own integration with MIS databases and other important providers such as WisePay, WorldPay and ParentPay.
Over time, the company reduced its dependency on partnerships and developed its own software modules for cashless catering (EventPOS), visitor management (VisiTapp), attendance monitoring systems (EventMarker). This policy strengthened the company’s position in the market as well as making it easier to support customers directly for speedy resolutions to reported problems.

We are experts in database integration. If your MIS or HR system facilitates a link to other systems via ODBC or OLE DB, we will prove to be your ideal partner. We have over ten years experience in the linking of mission critical MIS databases to our card systems. We can ensure that existing biographical data is utilised in real-time. This is particularly valuable in the Further or Higher Education environments. Student data is read automatically by our access control and card payment systems during the enrolment process. This means that students are given physical and logical access to the areas and facilities they need – the moment they receive their cards!
